If you have set Parental Controls on your Computer Kit but forgotten your password, don't worry! Follow this guide to reset it.
Remove Current Password
Dashboard
If you are in Dashboard mode, find an app called Terminal and click on it to open. This is where we'll reset the password.
Classic Mode
To get into your settings in classical mode, click the 'K' in the bottom left corner then click Code > Terminal.
Delete Password
Type: sudo rm /etc/kano-parental-lock then press the 'Enter' key on your keyboard. This will delete your current password.
Confirm Deletion
The computer will now confirm that you have permission to delete the current parental lock. If you haven't changed the password, the default password is kano.
Type the password and press the 'Enter' key.
Don't worry if you can't see anything when you type in the password or if nothing happens afterwards - this is normal.
Create New Password
Dashboard
To create a new password through the dashboard, click on the cog wheel at the bottom of the screen which will open the settings. This is where we will enter your new parental password.
Classic Mode
If you're on Classic Mode, to enter your settings click on 'K' on the bottom left corner of the screen, press Tools, then click on Settings.
Settings
Once in the settings, click on the Advanced settings to toggle the parental lock.
Enable
Re-select the type of Parental Control you’d like, then once you've done that press Apply Changes.
Password
Click on it and it should ask you to choose a new password, type in a new password.
Done!
You've successfully reset your parental lock password!
