If you have set Parental Controls on your Computer Kit but forgotten your password, don't worry! Follow this guide to reset it.
Remove Current Password
If you are in Dashboard mode, find an app called Terminal and click on it to open. This is where we'll reset the password.
To get into your settings in classical mode, click the 'K' in the bottom left corner then click Code > Terminal.
Type: sudo rm /etc/kano-parental-lock then press the 'Enter' key on your keyboard. This will delete your current password.
The computer will now confirm that you have permission to delete the current parental lock. If you haven't changed the password, the default password is kano.
Type the password and press the 'Enter' key.
Don't worry if you can't see anything when you type in the password or if nothing happens afterwards - this is normal.
Create New Password
To create a new password through the dashboard, click on the cog wheel at the bottom of the screen which will open the settings. This is where we will enter your new parental password.
If you're on Classic Mode, to enter your settings click on 'K' on the bottom left corner of the screen, press Tools, then click on Settings.
Once in the settings, click on the Advanced settings to toggle the parental lock.
Re-select the type of Parental Control you’d like, then once you've done that press Apply Changes.
Click on it and it should ask you to choose a new password, type in a new password.
You've successfully reset your parental lock password!
