Welcome to the Harry Potter Kano Coding Kit!
To start, here’s a little message from James and Oliver Phelps, who played Fred and George Weasley in the Harry Potter films.
Let’s get you rolling and set up your coding kit!
Open up your box. You should have all of this in there:
Follow along in your storybook! This well-crafted parchment will make it simple to put together your coding kit.
Did you lose your storybook? Don't fear, simply say "Accio Storybook" while clicking HERE.
Is your Coding Wand built and a blue light is blinking?
Next, make sure you have a compatible device by checking out the list here to see if your device is listed.
Once you have checked that your device is compatible, just like the storybook instructed, head over to Kano.me/app to download the latest version of the Kano App for Mac and Windows. You can also find the Kano App for tablets on iTunes, Google Play, and Amazon. For help with installing the Kano App, please refer to this article.
Once the Kano App is downloaded and installed, open it and select the Harry Potter Coding Kit device.
You will be presented with a screen that looks like this.
Make sure your Coding Wand is close to your tablet or computer and ensure your Bluetooth is turned on from the tablet/computer.
Once there is a successful pairing, you will get a little buzz from your Coding Wand, I know, exciting!
Time to explore the Kano App!
Once your Coding Wand is successfully paired, you have so many opportunities ahead of you! Here's what you can do with the Kano App:
Challenges: Where you’ll learn to code. Scroll around Diagon Alley, Hogwarts Grounds, and click on Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Levitate a feather, stop a swarm of spiders, make music, and more.
Play: Here we have some ready-made creations for you to play with. See how they work, tweak the code, change objects, colours and sounds. Then save your new creation to Kano World
Kano World: Our online community. See what people of all skill levels are making. Play with any creation, open it up, and remix the code to make it your own.
