If you are having trouble turning on your Computer Kit Complete or Computer Kit Touch, you've come to the right place! This article will walk you through a few quick things to check, and hopefully, we will get your kit up and running in no time.
The first thing to check is to make sure your power cables are plugged in properly. Make sure that your kit is plugged into the wall to charge, and that the red battery has all four lights blinking to indicate that it's charging (or that all four lights are turned on to indicate that the battery is fully charged).
Next up, let's take a look at the red split power cable that carries electricity from the battery to the power board (the red piece connected to the Raspberry Pi 3 Brain's pins) and from the battery to the screen driver board. You want to make sure that the shorter end of the split power cable is connected to the power board while the longer end is connected to the screen driver board. Make sure the shorter end is not connected directly to the Raspberry Pi 3 Brain.
The next thing we'll double-check is the kit's red power button which is located on the power board. Make sure it makes a good, healthy clicking sound when you press it! If you're finding it stuck, then try removing the power board from the Raspberry Pi 3 Brain's pins and giving the power button a good firm twist.
While we're at it, if you have a Computer Kit Touch, we can also check the orange touch cable that connects the screen driver board to the brain. Make sure both connections are firmly in place to ensure all touch information is relayed properly from the screen to the brain.
Once these things are confirmed, hold down the power button for three seconds. A bright red light should start shining on the Raspberry Pi. That means billions of electrons have started flowing from the battery to the kit's brain.
Then...after just a moment...a green light should start blinking. If this light doesn't blink, or if the screen says "No Signal" then that suggests that the computer's brain might be having trouble talking to the memory card. The good news is that this is quite easy to fix...just follow this guide and you can have a fresh copy of Kano OS installed in just a few minutes.
