Having some trouble pairing your Harry Potter Kano Coding Kit to your device? Is your Coding Wand disconnecting? Is your Bluetooth connection dropping, or lagging? Try these simple steps to get it fixed!
Step 1:
Make sure to wake your Coding Wand from sleep by pressing its top button, then press “Reconnect.”

Step 2:
If the app still says “Connection lost,” try clicking “Set up a new Coding Wand” in your app. Follow the steps, to repeat setup.

Step 3:
Still not working? Ensure your app is the most up to date version and your Coding Wand's firmware is up to date.

If a new app or new version of the Coding Wand firmware is available, a pop-up window will appear in the bottom right of the screen. Click it. The updating process will take about 2 minutes. Don’t press the button on the Coding Wand while it is updating.

Amazon Fire Tablet Troubleshooting – Are you on an Amazon Fire tablet? Go to settings, then "Safety and Privacy," and turn on "Location based services" – then start the "Setup a new Coding Wand" process again. Make sure you are using the app from Parent Zone, and that you enable "location based services."
Step 4:
Try turning the Coding Wand on and off by taking off the back and removing/reinserting the batteries.
Then repeat the above steps.
Step 5:
Turn the Bluetooth signal on your computer/tablet off. Wait 30 seconds, then turn it back on.
Step 6:
Ensure the Coding Wand does not have a "ghost connection" to the device. Go into your device's Bluetooth settings and if the Coding Wand is showing as "paired", select the option to disconnect the wand. Then try pairing the Coding Wand once again via the Kano App.
Step 7:
If your Bluetooth connection is still not activating or stable, we advise repeating the following steps
- Removing the batteries to turn your Coding Wand off and then back on
- Setting up your Coding Wand as a new Coding Wand
- Uninstalling and reinstalling the Kano App
- Restarting your device
